Dr Andrew Lee is Associate Professor of Accounting (Practice) at Singapore Management University, where he teaches and researches on financial reporting, financial analysis, and data analytics for investing. He is also a member of the SMU University Tribunal.

Aside from academia, Andrew is currently an independent non-executive director and member of the audit and risk committee of the manager-board of Singapore-listed Mapletree Industrial Trust. He also currently serves on the Advisory Committee on Accounting Standards for Statutory Boards of the Accountant-General’s Department, Ministry of Finance.

Prior to joining SMU in 2003, Andrew held various senior analyst appointments in corporate banking, credit risk analysis, bond ratings, and structured investment products at DBS Bank, Standard & Poor’s, UBS, and the former Banque Paribas.  He was also previously Senior Lecturer in Banking & Finance and Director of the Centre for Research in Financial Services at NTU’s Nanyang Business School.  

In addition to teaching the undergraduate and masters programs at SMU, Andrew has also taught extensively in executive training programs for many private and public sector organizations; spoken at local and international conferences for chief financial officers, accounting standard-setters, business managers, investors and financial market participants; and consulted and led research projects for various organizations including the Big-Four public accounting firms, professional bodies, and other private-sector entities.

Andrew previously served on the Accounting Standards Council of Singapore, and on SMU’s Institutional Review Board. An outstanding educator, Andrew was the recipient of many teaching awards during his years in academia. He was conferred the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) at the 2014 National Day Awards in recognition of his dedication and service to Singapore’s tertiary education sector.

Andrew holds a PhD degree from New York University with a major in accounting and minor in statistics. He is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) and Chartered Valuer and Appraiser (CVA) of Singapore.
