Jeffrey GROVE
Dr. Jeffrey Grove is currently a Lecturer of Political Science at Singapore Management University. He holds a PhD in political science from the University of Washington, where he was the Duck Family Graduate Fellow at the Center for Environmental Politics and affiliated with the Washington Institute for the Study of Inequality and Race. Prior to joining SMU, he taught American politics, political theory, and constitutional law at the University of Washington.
His research focuses on the development of land management in the United States and the Philippines. He is interested in how American land management techniques led to durable shifts in bureaucratic governance in both domestic and colonial contexts. He employs a mixture of qualitative methods and machine learning to conduct his research. He is currently preparing a book manuscript based on his dissertation, Mapping the Interior: Land Offices, Technology, and Bureaucratic Development in 19th Century America, alongside several ongoing projects on the topic.
