Yeo Tiong Min, Yong Pung How Chair Professor of Law, joined the Singapore Management University when its law school was founded in 2007. He has published widely on private law with a focus on private international law, and has taught at the Hague Academy of International Law. He was Dean of the law school from 2012-2017. Appointed Singapore’s first honorary Senior Counsel in 2012, he has argued as amicus curiae or independent counsel before the Singapore Court of Appeal in a number of leading complex cross-border commercial cases. He has collaborated on law reform matters with the Singapore Academy of Law, the Ministry of Law, and the Attorney-General’s Chambers, especially with regard to private international law. He has received recognition for manifold contributions to the theory and practice of law and legal education in Singapore: Singapore Law Award (2008); Public Service Medal (2011); Academy Publishing Award (2017); Public Administration (Silver) Medal (2017); SAL Merit Award (2018); Ministry of Law Partner of the Year Award (2022); and SMU Distinguished Educator Award (2023).
