Henry Gao is Professor of Law at Singapore Management University. With law degrees from three continents, he started his career as the first Chinese lawyer at the WTO Secretariat. He has been an advisor on trade issues for many national governments as well as the WTO, UN, World Bank, ADB, APEC, ASEAN and the World Economic Forum. A frequent commentator in leading international media such as Financial Times, Economist, Wall Street Journal, New York Times and Washington Post, he has also testified before the European Parliament and the US International Trade Commission as an expert witness.

Dr John Donaldson is an Associate Professor of Political Science at the School of Social Sciences, Singapore Management University (SMU). He researches on politics, rural development and poverty in China and elsewhere, having conducted extensive fieldwork in rural India and Thailand, as well as in Singapore.
